Poor Baby

Yesterday, Sam fell into a chair and hurt his eye. He hit it pretty hard and got a cut coming from the corner of his eye. I called the doctor immediately and they told me to bring him in right away. After the doctor cleaned and examined him, she asked another doctor in the office to take a look as well. Both doctors decided that Sam's eyeball was not damaged and that he did not need any stitches. The cut was too close to the eye for glue. So poor Sam is sporting a swollen black eye with a cut.

On the way home from the doctor's office.

Poor Sam was really shaken up, so Blue Bear was his constant companion yesterday.

This was not Sam's first injury this month! A couple of weeks ago, Sam fell on the sidewalk going into church and scraped up his little nose. Maybe one of these days he will stop injuring his face and I can get his portrait done!

Sadie's Photo Shoot

Every night, when we go to bed, we put our dog, Sadie, in the kitchen with a gate up. One Saturday morning I woke up to the sounds of lots of giggling in the next room. When I went to investigate, I found quite a scene. Alex had pulled a chair up to the gate of the kitchen, climbed over, and was taking a million pictures of Sadie with my camera. Sadie, of course, was just happy to have someone paying attention to her. When I confiscated the camera, there were about 40 pictures of Sadie and various shots of the kitchen. After I got past how funny this was, we did have a little talk about not playing with Mommy's camera!

Splish Splash!

One of our favorite things to do this summer is to go to the splash pad! There are several good ones around here that the boys enjoy. We've had fun going on outings to splash around in the water and try to stay cool in this Texas heat!

Alex loves running through the water.
We met up with Jen and Ashley one afternoon. It was lots of fun!

Summer Fun!

We have enjoyed some fun activities this summer! I'm going to play a little blogging catch-up and post some pictures from some events we have gone to this summer. I have some really fun pictures from our water and splash pad outings that will also be posted soon, since that's our favorite thing to do this hot summer!

Centennial Celebration
In June, we went to the local railway museum's Centennial Celebration. The boys had lots of fun seeing the electric trains and playing in the park.

Inside the museum checking out the miniature trains.
Bordon's Elsie the Cow made an appearance at the event!
Sam playing at the park.
Alex was fascinated with this antique fire engine on display.
The boys taking their own train ride! It was a really fun day!

Soccer Tournament
A couple of weeks ago, Daddy played in a corporate soccer tournament, and the boys and I went out to cheer for him and his company. It was really hot, but the boys really liked watching the soccer games. Alex, especially was into it...he loved cheering and was quick to point out whenever anyone missed the ball!

A little practice time on the field with Daddy.
Go team!
Sam stayed in the shade.
My boy who has loved soccer since he could walk!

Ashley's Birthday Party!
Alex's and Sam's cousin, Ashley, turned 2 years old at the end of June! We joined them for a fun celebration at Chuck E. Cheese! This was our first experience at Chuck E's and the boys absolutely had a blast! Now everytime we drive past Chuck E. Cheese, Alex says, "Look! There's where Chuck E. Cheese lives!"

Alex, Sam, and Ashley with Chuck...this was the best pic I got!
Loving the games!
Sam on a Barney ride.
They both loved skee ball...a favorite for sure.
Happy birthday Ashley!

GO Yellow Dragons!

This summer Alex played T-ball and absolutely loved it! His team was the Yellow Dragons! They had practices each week and ended the season with a "game" against another team. Mostly they learned the logistics of the game...how to bat, run the bases (in order!), how to catch, throw, and field a ball. Alex really enjoyed being on a team and loved all the action. He definitely has a competitive edge to him!

This is my FIRST attempt at posting a video, but since it's just under 51 seconds, I figured I would try it! This video is of the little guys fielding balls. They would all go for the same ball and end up in a pile on top of it. It was hilarious to watch them!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

We had such a fun Fourth of July. Every year our neighborhood puts on a parade for all the kids to participate in. All the neighbors decorates their wagons, bikes, trikes, strollers, pets...you name it! If it can move, someone will stick a flag on it! After the parade, there are snow cones and lots of fun stuff for the kids. This year, Nana got us a wagon for the event. Alex and I decorated up a fabulous patriotic display for the boys to ride in the parade. Nana and Pops came and Eric, Jen , and Ashley joined us in the parade too! What a fun morning!

Alex on the porch with his decorated wagon before we left. He was so proud of it especially since he picked out the 4 balloons...3 red, white, and blue balloons and 1 red one. By the end of the parade, not many decorations survived.
While we were staging for the parade, Alex decided that he would rather ride in the pickup truck with his friends and throw candy to the parade watchers. He loved doing this!
Sam is ready to go! He loved riding in the wagon.
Ashley getting ready with her very patriotic ride for the parade!
Ashley and Sam rode in the wagon together for a lot of the parade. They liked waving those flags...although I think we lost a few along the parade route.
After the parade we got snow cones! Mmmm!
Sam enjoying his candy.
The boys taking a rest in the wagon after the parade.
Nana and Pops with the grandchildren.
Eric and Ashley looking so patriotic!
Happy Fourth of July!!
